The system is an Internet, extranet and intranet application using our J2EE compliant framework BRM. BRM runs on WebLogic and WebSphere and on databases such as Oracle, DB2 and MS-SQL.

The application handles many different car sales scenarios:
  • Business to consumer
    • Customers can prepare a purchase by configuring a car of his own choice
    • Company agreements - for example easy access to the configuration of individual staff cars
  • Business to business
    • Wholesaler sales
    • Dealer sales
The application has several views of a car sale and it supports the entire supply chain. Each view can be personalized by the car manufacturer based on his preferences.

The end customer’s view
The application can be used as a portal solution for direct sales. It is possible for customers to configure a car to prepare a purchase.

Staff car view
The employees can configure a car only with respect to the amount of money each employee can spend.

The car manufacturer’s view The manufacturer of cars handles:
  • campaigns
  • brands
  • models
  • colours
  • interior and exterior original and third party equipment including location and stock
  • stock of cars
  • status information
  • location of cars
  • prices
Each change can be set effective immediately or scheduled. The application is developed to enhance and be integrated with a build-to-order system.

The wholesaler’s view
The wholesaler controls many of the same things the manufacturer does. The application supports the wholesaler’s view and it is therefore possible to reduce costs by skipping redundant work that is currently being done by both the manufacturer and the wholesaler.

The financier’s view
The financier manages:
  • campaigns
  • differentiated interest rates based on the individual customer/car dealer/wholesaler/brand etc.
  • general settings regarding the financing such as individual limits for terms/down payment etc.
Each change can be set effective immediately or scheduled.

The partner view
Partners such as manufactures of equipment can handle data relevant to them. For example entering prices etc. for each available piece of equipment. The company can decide which partner’s prices should be shown as the first offer giving the company the ability to manage leads for their partners. Each change can be set effective immediately or scheduled.

The car dealer’s view
For the car dealer the aim of the car financing system is to give a quick overview of the deal as he negotiates with a customer. Since the profit on the car itself is small, the dealer has to earn his money by including original equipment in the deal and by earning commitment commission for providing the financing. The system is ready for the dealer to handle repair status and history of individual cars.

Our system provides calculations for both loan and leasing, with or without a trade-in car and gives the dealer an overview of the deal by a total profit, summing up the profit on the car, the equipment, and the commissions from the bank. Hereby providing the dealer with an immediate insight to the deal, letting him take quick decisions about whether to give discount etc. Upon closing the deal all documents are printed and the customer can sign them on the spot.

A system like this will improve a dealer’s overview of a deal and sell more cares, because the dealers will be able to close deals on the spot.

For the application the car dealer, the wholesaler, the financier and the partners are conceived as companies with different contacts. The application supports customer relationship management based on a one-to-one relationship between your salespersons and the car dealer’s, the wholesaler’s, the financier’s and the partner’s salespersons. The application handles:
  • distributed project management i.e. projects running across many countries
  • campaigns across many countries
  • order and pipeline management
  • billing management
  • contact management
  • sales force management
  • segmentation of car dealers i.e. which models a car dealer sells and how many he sells
  • performance of the car dealer’s salespersons
  • segmentation of the car dealer’s customers
  • segmentation of end customers
It is possible to recognize a customer both as an employee in a company and as a private customer. In order to get a contract with a large company, this can be useful.

Besides cars the application can handle the dealing of motorbikes and other products with only minor adjustments.

The application has many features supporting internationalisation including language specific screens, different names for the same product, and different currencies. Since the application is object oriented, managing and supporting different business rules such as taxation is easy. It supports many channels such as browsers, e-mails, and wireless devices such as cellular phones. One feature using cellular phones is letting a customer know his car has arrived and is ready to be called for. Screens, features and content, such as prices, third party equipment etc., can be personalized based on your preferences.

The application is prepared for insurance handling.
Our system is UDDI ready regarding the handling of information in a database. Therefore the system is ready for Web services. Regarding security and integration with legacy system, please look at our brochure about BRM.
